At the time of writing this, there is so much happening in the world right now. For the most part, negativity seems to be taking centre stage with little to no hope in sight. For many, it feels like wave after wave is crashing on us and leaving us unable to find sure footing to keep going. It’s been this way for most of 2020, and I’m sure everyone is exhausted.
I’ve chosen to focus on things, big or small, that bring me joy, and I do this one day at a time.
Earlier this year, I had an opportunity to visit Australia, and I remember standing knee-deep in the ocean and staring at the ripples. I wondered how on earth people could find looking at the sea so calming because it’s so erratic. So many crests following no apparent rhythm, random crashes, and being distracted by sea plants floating around. I found that the trick was to change focus. I followed one crest as long as I could each time and noticed everything I found distracting just fade away. It was mesmerizing, and I finally felt at peace. The point I’m making is this - there’s so much noise around us, and that is exactly all it is - noise.
I encourage you to try to change your focus by either zoning in on something healthy or zone completely out by stepping back and looking at things from a holistic point of view. This could help you to see the truth and in turn, bring about some peace.
I decided to zone in and focus on the beauty that we`re able to see here in South Korea. Fall is by far my favourite season in South Korea, especially being a photographer. Seoul has many spots to enjoy the fall foliage. Still, I chose to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace instead because it has been years since I`ve actually explored the grounds. I hope you have a chance to visit South Korea in fall. You won`t be disappointed. I promise. Even if it rains as it did here.
Stay safe, stay healthy and be kind to yourself.
