My Favourite Photographs of 2020 | Seoul Photographer
My Favourite Photographs of 2020 | Seoul Photographer
I went back and forth quite a few times during the selection process of my favourite photographs of 2020. Would it be motivated by aesthetics? Would I be dishonest and only choose images that were photographically "perfect"? Would I select photographs attached to a fond memory of when I clicked the shutter? Truthfully, this selection contains a small amount of all of the above, barring photographic perfection.
2020 has been quite a tumultuous year. There were times we had to consciously make an effort to remain optimistic, focus on the small things that bring us happiness, maintain perspective, and be kind to those around us and ourselves. The fight isn't over, yet. I'm taking a moment to mention this because these photographs remind me of this principle.
Let's get on with it, then.
Favourite Wedding Photographs | Seoul Wedding Photographer
After many postponements and unpredictability, I was able to photograph a few weddings. Masks, social distancing rules and a strict maximum number of people allowed to attend - we were able to pull it off.
Please note, these were made a few months ago before the current wave of cases and increased social distancing rules.
Favourite Engagement Photographs | Seoul Engagement Photographer
I remember Leizel arriving at the shoot and her first words after "hello" were "I just want to get this over and done with". It's nice to see she warmed up to the experience as we went along. I'll be blogging about this session soon.
Moving onto Veronica and Jaehyeong. This wasn't what we planned initially. The course was entirely different, but due to covid, plans changed every few weeks. In the end, we still had a good time despite everything.
Favourite Travel Photographs | South Korea Travel Photographer
I was fortunate to visit three countries this year. I feel incredibly grateful that I did. I was able to make photographs in Kyoto, Japan, for Edgroup Korea. It was a phenomenal experience. I instantly fell in love with Japan.
I also managed to visit Australia in January. I was somewhat worried about the trip because most of Australia was on fire due to the horrific bush fires.
I live in Seoul, a too dense city, so seeing open space in Australia was spectacular.
I hopped over to Bangkok for a few days on my way back from Australia, too. Bangkok never fails. I should note that the energy wasn't quite the same, though. People grew very tense due to covid, and as a result, I couldn't see the friendly smiles I've become accustomed to seeing in Bangkok unless I interacted with people directly.
Favourite Street Photographs | Seoul Photographer
It rained so much in 2020. I don't think I've seen so much rain in my life. So between people trying to keep dry, dealing with covid and going about their daily lives - I immensely enjoyed the pursuit of photographing interesting moments while roaming the streets.
And now for the interesting…
Favourite Quiet Photographs | Seoul Photographer
I define a quite photograph as a photograph that possesses qualities of being calm, graceful and doesn't shout for attention. Here are my favourites.
Most of us are engaged in personal battles due to the woes of 2020. It would wise to be kind to those you come into contact with. I wish you a wonderful year ahead. May all your hopes and dreams come true. Stay in good health and in good spirit.
That wraps the list of photographs I cherrished in 2020. Thank you SO MUCH for all your support and for taking the time to check this blog post out.
